A visit from Nanny and Marie

We had an incredible time with Nanny and Marie on their trip to Jerusalem. In addition to celebrating Katrina’s baptism, we did many other incredible activities with them. Lani, Maria and Rebekah spent two days with them in Galilee (that’s a few separate posts), and they had some great adventures while I was in Jordan (that’s a few more separate posts)! On the three days we were all together, we had Katrina’s baptism, and the adventures briefly described below.

Good meals together!

Made it to sea level! And then traveled below to some special spots below sea level!
Visited Qumran and saw where the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered (in the caves behind us).
Levi and Nanny enjoying Qumran

Had a great hike at Ein Gedi where David hid from Saul, and cut off a piece of Saul’s clothes while Saul was sleeping -- a great scripture story.

From there we were on to Masada!

Cool paintings!

Glad we took the tram instead of the trail (the trail was actually closed because of heat).

Given the heat, it was time to head to the Dead Sea!

We love floating in the Dead Sea! Now it’s time to try on some Dead Sea mud.

Should have read the instructions, which say not to put it on your face.

Everybody wanted to float with Lani.

This next picture is my favorite from the day -- what is everybody looking at?

We had another series of adventures around Jerusalem two days later:

We loved the Dominus Flevit Church and reflected on Christ weeping over Jerusalem as he walked down the Mount of Olives.

Annemarie pondered over a statement by the Savior about longing to gather us as a hen gathers her chicks.

Nanny loved singing with the priest at St. Anne’s.
Nanny’s lunch treat was a huge hit with everyone!

It was so fun to have visitors come -- we welcome more!
